Designed to allow only a single day's worth of chemotherapy to be written at a time, thereby preventing an error from being carried through on multiple days, should a miscalculation occur. It has sections to note whether the dose of chemotherapy prescribed is an escalation or reduction and areas to record the rationale for each. If the patient is receiving chemotherapy according to a research protocol, there is a space provided for the protocol number, as well as the committee on human research (CHR) approval number. There is also a box to check to alert the pharmacy and the nurses that the orders being written are not a standard protocol. Additional safety precautions include a section to designate safe parameters for administering or withholding the treatment, whether a vessicant is being ordered, any special instructions, and a line for counter signature of two RNs and the pharmacy technician who mixes the chemotherapy. And because this is computer generated, legibility is not an issue. Additional features include a patient demographics screen that has areas to keep track of procedures and scans the patient has completed or may need to have scheduled. A calendar that is patient specific, as well as a chemotherapy flow sheet. This software is designed to allow the provider the freedom of writing the chemotherapy the patient requires, with automatic BSA and dosage calculation once height and weight are entered.
